Berkeley Heights families will get their children's bus route assignments and bus passes by email before the school year begins, the district announced Monday, Aug. 10.

The same message appeared on the district's Facebook page, noting that "the BHPS transportation office is busy planning" for the coming year.

Beyond email, the district pointed parents to two additional places to find their student's transportation information: the transportation section of the BHPS website at bhpsnj.org and their student's PowerSchool portal, where route details will appear once posted.

What families should do

The district outlined three steps:

  • Check email regularly in late August for bus route and pass information.
  • Visit the transportation section of bhpsnj.org for updates. Navigate from the homepage; the direct transportation page was returning errors as of Aug. 11.
  • Log into PowerSchool to confirm your student's assigned route once it appears.

The announcement did not address whether any routes have changed from last year or whether eligibility rules have been updated. Families who moved over the summer or have students entering a new school building may want to watch especially closely for their assignments.

Looking ahead

The school year begins in early September. The district has not posted a finalized first-day-of-school date on its main website as of Aug. 11, though a third-party calendar aggregator lists Tuesday, Sept. 1, as the student return date.

Families with transportation questions can check bhpsnj.org for contact information for the district office.
