Chatham's annual Sustainability Fair and Electric Vehicle Expo returns Sept. 19 at Railroad Plaza South with EV displays, garden tours and free native plants.
The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near Chatham Station. The Chatham Borough and Chatham Township Environmental Commissions are hosting the event, according to the Chatham Courier.
Susie Robertson, chair of the Chatham Borough Environmental Commission, is listed as the organizer on the event's Patch calendar page.
A Smart Home and Business Zone anchors the indoor offerings. Residents can meet local energy experts, learn about financial incentives for efficiency upgrades and get advice on cutting utility bills and carbon output.
Outside, the borough will show off its new electric truck. Local EV owners plan to be on hand to answer questions about life with an electric vehicle. Fully electric gardening equipment will be on display, including a robot lawn mower running live demos.
Guided tours of Chatham Borough's new Biodiversity Garden leave at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Visitors can also learn about bees, visit a bear den and hear about nature walks and programs run by the Morris County Park Commission. Free native plants and seed packets will be available for pickup.
The fair runs alongside the Chatham Farmers Market, which brings food trucks, live music, fresh produce and artisanal vendors to the same plaza. The event was also cross-posted to Patch calendars in New Providence, Summit and Madison.
