Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary School parents will keep raising money for a playground upgrade this school year, the school's Parent-Teacher Organization announced in its back-to-school welcome.

PTO President Keri Kociancic wrote that the playground campaign is the organization's top priority for 2026-27, an effort that "will benefit generations of students to come."

The fundraising push is not new. The PTO launched its Playground Improvement Fund during the 2025-26 year and ran a "Run for Recess" fundraiser in May with a $35,000 goal. If donations hit that mark, students would get to silly string Principal Ray Santana, who is entering his second year leading the school.

Whether the spring campaign reached its target has not been announced. The PTO has not published an overall cost estimate for the project.

School starts Tuesday, Sept. 8. A Principal Welcome Coffee is set for Friday, Sept. 11, at 8:30 a.m. Back to School Night follows Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m., with a parent social at 7:30 p.m.
