Cavan Londergan, the 49-year-old Parsippany man reported missing after he was last seen in Madison on Monday, Aug. 3, was found dead Tuesday night in Summerhill Park in Madison, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, as reported by Patch.

Londergan's death is not believed to be suspicious, prosecutors said. The investigation remains ongoing.

The discovery closes a multi-agency search that began after Madison Police issued a missing person alert on Tuesday, Aug. 4. As we reported Wednesday, the department had asked Summit-area residents to help locate Londergan, describing him as a white man with a slim build, gray hair, blue eyes and approximately 5-foot-10. Surveillance footage showed him wearing a green T-shirt and khaki shorts around the time of his disappearance.

His disappearance triggered a search involving Madison Police, the New Jersey State Police, the Morris County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and the Office of Emergency Management. Investigators pursued a lead that directed the search to Summerhill Park, where Londergan was found.

Londergan was a school counselor and coach in Parsippany, according to Patch. The specific school and sport were not identified.

No cause of death has been released. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Madison Police Department at (973) 593-3000.
