New Providence voters can cast early ballots at the DeCorso Community Center, 15 E. Fourth St., starting Saturday, Oct. 24.
Early voting for the Nov. 3 General Election runs through Sunday, Nov. 1, according to the Borough of New Providence. Polls will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Any eligible Union County voter can use any of the county's early voting sites, not just the one in their home municipality, according to the Union County Board of Elections. That means New Providence residents could also vote at the Berkeley Heights Municipal Building, 29 Park Ave., or at any of the other nine locations across the county. Sites include Cranford, Elizabeth, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle, Scotch Plains and Union.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Vote-by-mail option
Voters who prefer to skip the polls can request a vote-by-mail ballot in person at either Union County Clerk's office. Union County Deputy Clerk Clara Fernández announced in an Oct. 6 press release that ballots are available at two locations:
- Westfield: 300 North Ave. East. Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Elizabeth: 2 Broad St., Room 113. Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Both offices will also be open Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for voters who need to pick up or return ballots before the deadline. Voters who previously requested mail ballots have already received them, according to the county.
New Jersey law requires vote-by-mail ballots to be postmarked on or before Election Day. The county warns that U.S. Postal Service postmarks reflect when mail is processed, not when it is dropped off. Voters mailing ballots close to the deadline are encouraged to use a secure county drop box instead. A full list of drop-box locations is available through the Union County Board of Elections.
