Firefighters knocked down a first-floor fire at a downtown New Providence nail salon Tuesday, Sept. 1, with no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The blaze broke out Tuesday morning at Eden Nails, inside a two-story mixed-use building at 18 South St., according to Patch. The New Providence Fire Department contained the fire within about 40 minutes.

Summit firefighters were among several neighboring departments called to the scene for mutual aid. The full list of responding departments was not available.

Investigators believe the fire was accidental, according to the Patch report. The Union County Fire Investigation Task Force is examining the exact cause, with no timeline announced for its findings.

Caution tape surrounded the building after the fire, TAPinto New Providence reported.
