New Providence residents can get in-person help registering to vote, requesting a mail ballot or completing a ballot on Monday, Oct. 12, at the DeCorso Community Center.

The drop-in session runs from noon to 2 p.m. at the center, 15 E. 4th St. Representatives from the Union County Board of Elections will staff the event, according to the borough.

The event falls one day before the registration deadline. Tuesday, Oct. 13, is the last day to register for the Nov. 3 general election.

Nicole DiRado, the Union County Board of Elections administrator, said in a Sept. 29 county press release that residents can register online, by mail or in person. "There are multiple options for residents to register to vote in time for the upcoming election," DiRado said.

To be eligible, a person must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old by Election Day on Nov. 3 and a resident of New Jersey and their county for at least 30 days before the election.

Board of Elections staff at the DeCorso Center can walk residents through the registration form, help first-time voters understand their options and assist anyone who wants to fill out a vote-by-mail application on the spot.
