Summit residents can set out bagged leaves for curbside pickup starting Monday, Oct. 5.

The city's fall leaf collection program runs through Friday, Dec. 4, according to a city newsflash published Tuesday, Sept. 29. Pickup happens on each resident's regular household trash collection day. A separate truck handles the leaf bags.

Paper, biodegradable bags are the only option. The city does not accept plastic bags. Residents should not rake or blow leaves into piles in the street, and twigs, branches and other yard debris cannot go in the leaf bags.

Collection may take up to two weeks after bags are placed at the curb, the city says. Any bags left out after Dec. 4 will not be picked up, and residents must remove them.

A major snowfall could end the program early. The city's leaf collection page notes the season ends on the Friday of the first full week in December or on the first major snowfall, whichever comes first.
