Summit's annual resident parking permits expire Saturday, Oct. 31, and online renewal is open, the city's Parking Services Agency announced.
New permits will run from Nov. 1, 2026, through Oct. 31, 2027. The annual permit costs $10. Seniors pay $5.
The permit is digital, tied to a vehicle's license plate through plate-recognition technology. No physical sticker is required. The city lists it as the "Resident Permit" in its online portal.
The single permit covers two things: parking in long-term municipal lots, certain levels of the Broad Street garage and other resident-only spaces, plus access to the Municipal Transfer Station at 40 New Providence Ave. Trash and solid waste disposal at the transfer station is free for Summit residents.
Permit holders with an existing online account can renew at cityofsummit.org/permitrenewal. Step-by-step instructions are posted in the portal's Help section.
Residents who prefer to renew in person can book an appointment at the Parking Services Agency office inside City Hall, 512 Springfield Ave. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
