Summit residents who haven't yet signed up for the city pool can now get in for half the usual price.
The Summit Family Aquatic Center at 100 Morris Avenue will offer 50% off memberships starting Saturday, Aug. 1, through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7. The deal is open to residents who are not already members.
Mayor Elizabeth Fagan announced the promotion during her Monday, July 27 "Monday with the Mayor" video segment, filmed poolside at the aquatic center.
"If you have never been here, do definitely come and check it out," Fagan said.
The Saturday start gives families an immediate weekend to sign up and swim, with roughly five weeks of access remaining in the season.

The city posted the promotion on its official Facebook page with a video reel encouraging sign-ups before the season closes.
The aquatic center, housed at the Summit Community Center, also serves as the city's designated cooling center during heat emergencies, open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with proof of Summit residency required.
The facility briefly closed on Friday, July 17, when Canadian wildfire smoke pushed the Air Quality Index to unhealthy levels across northern New Jersey. It has been operating normally since.
The half-price window runs through Labor Day, Sept. 7. No council vote or public hearing is associated with the promotion, according to TAPinto Summit's reporting.
