Summit High School junior Charlotte Lemkau appears on five NJ.com statewide returning-gymnast lists heading into the 2026 season. The rankings confirm her as one of the most versatile high school gymnasts in New Jersey.

NJ.com listed Lemkau 15th among the state's top returning floor gymnasts on Friday, Sept. 4. She also landed on the site's returning lists for all-around (24th), vault, beam and bars.

Floor is where Lemkau stands out. She won her second consecutive Union County floor title last season with a 9.55 at the county championships. That score ties her with gymnasts from Lenape, St. Thomas Aquinas and Ramapo at 15th on NJ.com's returning floor list.

Lemkau carried that momentum into the postseason. She posted a 9.5 at the Section A Championships to finish first, then matched that score at the Cougar Invitational for second place. At the state individual championships, she scored a 9.225 on floor, finishing 12th.

Her consistency across all four apparatus earned her Third-Team All-State honors from NJ.com in August. That recognition noted Lemkau "has been on a historic run at Summit since freshman year." She logged a 36.425 all-around, a 9.3 on vault, a 9.225 on beam and an 8.8 on bars.

Lemkau first won the Union County floor title as a freshman in 2024. No other Summit gymnast had claimed that event before her.

The 2026 New Jersey high school gymnastics season is underway. Scotch Plains-Fanwood, which won its seventh straight Union County team title last season, remains the team to beat in the county, according to NJ.com's preseason top-10 rankings. Lemkau and Summit will look to close that gap this fall.
