Drivers who use Hillside Avenue in Chatham Township should expect weekday closures starting Tuesday, July 21, as crews begin a $314,790 road repaving project.

The closure covers Hillside Avenue between River Road and 344 Hillside Avenue. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, approximately 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The township has not announced a detour route or completion date.

The project is largely funded through a $261,720 New Jersey Department of Transportation Municipal Aid grant. The township will cover the remaining $53,070 through capital funds.

The Township Committee awarded the contract to P.M. Construction Corp. after the company submitted the only bid.

The road will be closed to through traffic during work hours, but no weekend closures have been announced.
