New Providence Borough has wrapped up its first west-side leaf vacuum pickup of the fall season, the borough announced Oct. 29.

West-side residents with leaf permits should not place any more leaves at the curb for the first run. Crews will not return to vacuum them. The next west-side pickup is scheduled for the week of Nov. 9, according to the borough's leaf collection permit page. A third and final west-side run is set for the week of Nov. 30.

Residents who still need a leaf permit have until Nov. 12 to buy one. Permits are sent by email after payment, according to the borough's application page.

East-side schedule begins week of Nov. 2

East-side residents, those between the Summit line and South Street, are on a different calendar with their first pickup beginning the week of Nov. 2. Two more east-side runs are scheduled for the weeks of Nov. 16 and Dec. 7. All pickups are weather permitting.

The west side covers the area from South Street to the Berkeley Heights line.

Union County roads: separate schedule

Residents on Springfield Avenue, South Street, Passaic Street or Mountain Avenue should not purchase a borough permit. Leaves on those roads are vacuumed by the Union County Public Works Department on a separate schedule, which the borough said will be posted at newprov.us when available. Corner-lot homeowners are the exception: they may buy a permit if they specify the borough street where their leaves will be placed.
