Summit drivers may hit some slowdowns this week as utility crews and contractors work at nine intersections across the city.

The work runs Wednesday, July 8, through Friday, July 10, with crews starting as early as 7 a.m. and wrapping up by about 4 p.m. Road closures or detours may be in place.

Work locations include:

  • Beechwood Road at Springfield Avenue — Tiffany Electric
  • Canoe Brook Parkway at Bedford Road — Portofino
  • Springfield Avenue at Pine Grove Avenue — PSEG
  • Blackburn Road at Blackburn Place — PSEG
  • Chatham Road at River Road — PSEG
  • Mountain Avenue at Elm Street — PSEG
  • Prospect Street at Larned Road — PSEG
  • Silver Lake Drive at Ashland Road — PSEG
  • Mount Vernon Avenue at Harvey Drive — AJM

The Portofino work is part of the city’s larger Canoe Brook Parkway Area Improvement Project, which includes traffic safety upgrades, drainage improvements and repaving.

The schedule is weather-dependent and may change. Residents can check city updates or contact the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau at 908-273-0051 with questions.
