Daica Skrobala, the award-winning floral designer behind Summit's Polycarp Flowers, will lead a hands-on Fall Wreath Workshop at Reeves-Reed Arboretum on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Skrobala, a graduate of NYU and the New York Botanical Garden Floral Design Program, has taught seasonal workshops at the Hobart Avenue arboretum for several years. This session runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the Reeves-Reed Arboretum event listing. All experience levels are welcome.
Participants will build wreaths using sunflowers, mums, astilbe, celosia, thistle, calla lilies and fall foliage. All florals, vases and tools are included in the ticket price: $160 for Reeves-Reed members (coupon code RRA226) and $175 for non-members. Registration is through polycarpflowers.com.
Skrobala operates Polycarp Flowers from 64 Woodland Ave. in Summit and is a member of both the Summit Garden Club and the Suburban Chamber of Commerce. Her competition record includes a best-in-show award at the 2021 Fleurs de Ville Flower Show at Hudson Yards, a gold medal at the 2022 Philadelphia Flower Show and the Phyllis Craig Award for best use of color at the 2023 Philadelphia Flower Show. Her designs have appeared in the Macy's Flower Show in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
One note for attendees: the arboretum will be temporarily closed Aug. 24 through Sept. 4 for installation of a new accessible entry gate, but the workshop will proceed as scheduled, according to the arboretum's website. Participants should follow specific access instructions provided after registration.
Skrobala is also leading a follow-up "Thankful for Autumn" arrangement workshop at Reeves-Reed on Tuesday, Nov. 24, priced at $165.
As we reported Aug. 6, the arboretum filled its August calendar with goat yoga, forest bathing and outdoor concerts. The Sept. 3 workshop kicks off fall programming at the 13-acre site.
