Multiple road projects will cause lane closures and detours at several busy Summit intersections during the week of Sept. 28.

PSE&G and other contractors plan work at Elm Street near Morris Avenue and Broad Street, Mountain Avenue at Maple Street, and Beechwood Road at Springfield Avenue, Patch reported, summarizing a TAPinto report. That utility work will generally run between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Separately, the city is launching the Industrial Place and Walnut Street Improvement Project on Monday, Sept. 28. Crews will inspect and repair storm and sanitary sewers, fix curbs, make intersection improvements, and mill and pave the roadway along Industrial Place from Summit Avenue to Walnut Street and Walnut Street from Summit Avenue to Broad Street, according to the city's construction updates page. Work hours for that project run 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Police will be on site to direct traffic. Residents should follow all emergency "No Parking" signs.

The Ashland Road Sidewalk Project begins Wednesday, Sept. 30, and is scheduled to continue through Tuesday, Oct. 6, weather permitting. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with road closures and detours possible. Police will be on site there as well.

Sidewalk restoration tied to the Downtown Traffic Signal Improvement Project is also continuing at the intersections of Springfield Avenue and Beechwood Road and Springfield Avenue and Maple Street. New traffic signals were installed at those intersections as of a Sept. 15 city update, and restoration work is expected to wrap up by the end of September.
