Franklin Elementary School in Summit landed at No. 19 on U.S. News & World Report's 2027 list of New Jersey's top public elementary schools.
The grades 1-5 school on Blackburn Road has 369 students and a 13:1 student-teacher ratio, according to The Digest Online, which compiled the full top-20 list.
Franklin is one of two Summit-area schools on the list. Salt Brook School in New Providence placed higher at No. 15, with 583 students in grades K-6 and a 12:1 student-teacher ratio. The ranking draws on U.S. Department of Education data and measures how well schools perform in math and reading, according to U.S. News.
Half of this year's top 20 were not on last year's list. School 28 in Paterson held the No. 1 spot for a third straight year.
Franklin Elementary's principal is Jenna Colineri, according to the school's PTO website.
The ranking measures math and reading performance and does not account for subjects like music, art or sports, The Digest noted.
