Summit residents who normally put recycling out on Mondays will need to wait a day. The city is pushing all recycling pickups back one day the week of Sept. 6–12 because of the Labor Day holiday.
City offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, and there will be no recycling collection that day, according to a notice posted Monday, Aug. 31. Every other collection day that week slides forward by one day.
The full modified recycling schedule:
- Monday → Tuesday, Sept. 8
- Tuesday → Wednesday, Sept. 9
- Wednesday → Thursday, Sept. 10
- Thursday → Friday, Sept. 11
- Friday → Saturday, Sept. 12
Trash collection is not affected. Regular trash pickup continues on its normal schedule all week.
The city's notice says recycling should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on the adjusted pickup day, or the night before. Residents who believe a pickup was missed can report it through the SeeClickFix app or the Report a Concern tool on the city's website.
Free parking all day
Monday, Sept. 7, is also a parking holiday in Summit. No fees are required for on-street parking or for parking in any municipal lot or garage. Meters and garage gates will not charge for the full day.
What to know about the schedule
The modified recycling schedule applies only to the week of Sept. 6–12. The city's notice did not explicitly address the following week, but the adjusted schedule covers all five weekday collection days through Saturday, Sept. 12. More recycling details are available on the city's recycling page.
Residents with questions about their specific pickup day can also check the SeeClickFix app, which the city uses for service requests and notifications.
