Drivers in Summit should plan alternate routes as utility crews work at six intersections across the city, bringing possible lane restrictions and delays through Friday, August 7.
The City of Summit announced the road work, according to TAPinto, affecting these locations during the week of August 3:
- Orchard Street at Roosevelt Way — New Jersey American Water
- Blackburn Road at Oak Knoll Road — PSE&G
- Broad Street at Chestnut Avenue — PSE&G
- Mountain Avenue at Elm Street — PSE&G
- Portland Road at Colt Road — PSE&G
- Mount Vernon Avenue at Harvey Drive — AJM (private contractor)
Most crews will be on-site from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The Mount Vernon Avenue project runs slightly longer, until about 4:30 p.m.
Several of these sites are not new to construction. PSE&G's work at Blackburn Road, Broad Street, and Mountain Avenue, along with AJM's project on Mount Vernon Avenue, were also active during the week of July 20, indicating these are ongoing multi-week utility projects. The Orchard Street and Portland Road sites are new additions for the week of August 3.
The specific nature of the work at each site has not been detailed in the city's announcement.
