A rooftop lounge, outdoor gathering space and redesigned parking lot could be coming to one of Summit’s best-known hotels — but residents will have to wait a few more months to weigh in.
The Summit Zoning Board of Adjustment postponed a public hearing on proposed upgrades at The Albion Summit, 570 Springfield Ave., after a technical issue forced the cancellation of Monday’s meeting.
The hearing is now scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
The proposal from 570 Springfield Avenue Property LLC would transform parts of the former Grand Summit Hotel property with:
- A new rooftop lounge with balcony seating and a retractable roof
- An outdoor piazza and garden replacing the existing pool area
- Updated parking circulation, landscaping and lighting improvements
The project requires zoning approval because it would expand a non-conforming use and increase building height.
The Albion Summit currently operates as a 100-room boutique hotel with Felina restaurant, a whiskey bar and a movie theater.
The July 6 meeting was canceled shortly before the scheduled start because the board was unable to livestream the session. A separate resolution involving a home project at 2 Crest Acre Court was also pushed to September.
The Zoning Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20. The Albion Summit hearing will take place Sept. 23 at Council Chambers, 512 Springfield Ave.
