Madison is getting a new way to experience its downtown — one bite, one story and one historic stop at a time.
Chow Town Food Tours will launch its first Madison walking tour on Saturday, July 25, inviting guests to explore local restaurants while learning about the borough’s Revolutionary War history.
The three-hour “Eat Your Way Through History” tour runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and will feature tastings from four to five downtown eateries, with local history woven throughout the route by experts from the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts. Tickets are $94.95 per person, and guests must be 21 or older.
Participants will walk about 1 to 1.5 miles through downtown Madison, stopping for a mix of local flavors, including Jersey-style pizza, international cheeses, sausages and Bavarian-inspired dishes, Italian home cooking, handmade pastries and a wine tasting finale.
The tour begins at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, 9 Main St., where historians will share stories about Madison’s role during the American Revolution and the military leaders who spent time in the area.
The event comes as communities prepare to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence and marks Chow Town Food Tours’ newest Morris County destination after launching tours in Denville and Morristown.
Tickets are available through the Chow Town Food Tours Madison page. The specific restaurants included in the route have not yet been announced.
