Three Berkeley Heights students just got the kind of recognition most young artists dream about: their work is now on a countywide tour, on display through early 2027.
Alyeena Sternberg of Columbia Middle School and Addison Miller and Milagros Romero of Governor Livingston High School are among 38 young artists selected for the 2026 Union County Teen Arts Touring Exhibit. Their pieces are currently on display, free to the public, at the Linden Public Library, 31 East Henry St., through Aug. 14.
Students from at least 16 Union County municipalities got work selected this year, but Berkeley Heights was one of the few towns represented at both the middle school and high school level, according to the county.
The 38 works came out of the 2026 Union County Teen Arts Festival, a two-day event at UCNJ Union College's Cranford campus in March — middle schoolers showed on one day, high schoolers the next. The festival is run by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs and the Department of Parks and Recreation, with funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Some pieces from this year's show even went on to the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival in June.
Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek urged residents to check out the exhibit at each stop, calling it a chance to support the county's next generation of artists.
Linden is the exhibit's second stop after Springfield Free Public Library. From here, it heads to libraries in Elizabeth and Plainfield, the UCNJ Union College Scotch Plains campus, and the Union County Commissioners Gallery in Elizabeth — though exact dates haven't been announced.
Families can catch the exhibit at Linden Public Library during regular hours through Aug. 14. For details, contact the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs at (908) 558-2550 or [email protected].
