Oratory Prep's Ryan Sporel scored in three of four games as the Summit-based Rams went 2-0-2 between late September and early October.

The highlight came Tuesday, Sept. 29, when Oratory traveled to Berkeley Heights for Governor Livingston's senior night and earned a 1-1 double-overtime draw. Sporel opened the scoring, splitting two defenders and finishing into the top right corner, according to The Omega, Oratory Prep's student newspaper. GL equalized on a set piece with about 10 minutes left in the first half, and neither side broke through in two overtime periods.

MaxPreps confirmed the 1-1 result. GL sophomore goalkeeper Nicholas Woodard made four saves in the match, earning a Union County Conference player-of-the-week nod from NJ.com.

The stretch began Saturday, Sept. 26, with a 3-1 win over Rutgers Prep in what The Omega called Nor'easter conditions. Sporel, Lucius Brachfeld and Lincoln Tucker each scored.

Sporel kept rolling after the GL draw.

The Omega reported the Rams drew Roselle 1-1 in double overtime, with Andrew Parke scoring from outside the box off a corner before Roselle equalized with two minutes left in regulation. Oratory then closed the run with a 3-1 win over Caldwell. Sporel scored twice, including a goal inside the first six minutes, and Brachfeld added the other.

The Caldwell result carried extra weight. The Omega reported the Rams wanted a win ahead of the Union County Tournament (UCT) seeding meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7. No UCT bracket or seed for Oratory Prep had been published as of Friday, Oct. 9.

Captain Felix Cook anchored the back line during the stretch, with John Keogh, Sam Catalano and Braden Olohan. Goalkeeper George Parke made saves The Omega called crucial in the Caldwell win.

Oratory Prep's MaxPreps schedule shows the Rams hosting Linden on Tuesday, Oct. 13, followed by a rematch at Governor Livingston on Thursday, Oct. 15.
