Young athletes with disabilities can learn field hockey basics at a clinic starting Sunday, Oct. 11 at Upper Tatlock Field in Summit.

The program pairs local field hockey players with elementary, middle and high school-aged athletes ages 5 and older who have physical, developmental or intellectual disabilities. Sessions run from 3 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 11, 18 and 25 at the field, located at 26 Butler Parkway. Check-in begins at 2:30 p.m., according to a newsletter from the ECLC of New Jersey.

All equipment is provided. No experience is needed.

Participants can attend any or all three sessions. The cost is $30. Registration is available through the City of Summit's community programs portal at rec1.com.

Sophia Levato, who posted the clinic listing on Patch, described the program as a chance for athletes to discover the sport alongside local field hockey players in a supportive environment. The listing does not name a school, team or nonprofit sponsor.

The first session is five days away.
